Christine's Ceylon Dress

Oh my poor neglected blog! Happily I have been sewing just not blogging!
This is a ceylon dress I made for my wonderful friend Christine.
I used Colette's Pattern https://www.colettepatterns.com/catalog/ceylon. Funny how you can be friends with someone for millions of years but not until I sewed this dress for her did I realize how petit she is - less than a size 0! I used the sleeve from Colette's Macaron dress because I liked how the scallop of that Macaron Dress echos the neckline.

Christine is a fabulous landscape oil painter and she chose this lovely cotton with a print os deer, leaves and flowers. I loved working with it to get interesting ways in which the print lined up.
I lined the dress with silk because it is a quilting cotton. The fabric is Amy Butler http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/designer/amy_butler/bright_heart/oh_deer_in_plum. I love Amy Butler prints and Hawthorn Threads is a great place to get nice fabric.
I also made a bolero to go with the dress. The pattern is from Sew Chic: http://www.sewchicpatterns.com/victory.html.
