Chris' Fall and Winter Coat

They are so beautiful together!!!!!!! Our baby horse Arrow has joined him for the photos!
My Husband in his new coat that I made for his birthday! I did a lot of thread painting on this one! Thread painting (also known as free motion sewing) on wool is great! Yes, it takes a lot of time but it is worth it!

The coat pattern is Vogue 8842. I used two layers of wool, also interlined with a wool gaberdine and then lined with lining.

The snow flakes are done partly with block printing and partly thread painting.

Got to have a hanging loop!
I added side pockets.

Here is a close up of the thread painting.

"Franz Marc's Blue Horses
I step into the painting of four blue horses.
I am not even surprised that I can do this.

One of the horses walks toward me.
His blue nose noses me lightly. I put my arm
over his blue mane, not holding on, just
commingling.
He allows me my pleasure.
Frans Marc died a young man, shrapnel in his brain.
I would rather die than try to explain to the blue horses
what war is.
They would either faint in horror, or simply
find if impossible to believe.
I do not know how to thank you, Franz Marc.
Maybe our world will grow kinder eventually.
Maybe the desire to make something beautiful
is the piece of God that is inside each of us.
Now all four horses have come closer,
as if they have secrets to tell.
I don't expect them to speak, and they don't.
If being so beautiful isn't enough, what
could they possibly say?"

First Ginger Jeans

YAY!!!!!! My first ginger jeans!!!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!! I never had a pair of jeans that fit so right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The pattern is by Heather Lou at Closet Case Files http://closetcasefiles.com/pattern-debut-ginger-skinny-jeans/
Heather Lou is amazing!!!!!! I followed her sew along which was wonderful! She made an exceptionally good pattern and is outstanding in her directions on the sew-along!!!!!!!!

There are always things that need to be changed just a hair which I will do in my next 10 pairs I make for myself!!!!!!! Perhaps the back pockets are a little far apart and.....

well there are some changes I will make. But really I just followed her instructions and all went very well. The only difficulty was that my sewing machine was not up to the task!

I was so upset with my expensive machine that I took it back to the dealer and traded it in for two machines. One that is built for tough sewing  - A Janome 1600 Professional! And a Bernina 350!

.
These floral denim was my muslin pair.

They are a little small and again the machine i was using made a mess of the thick seams and belt loops! But next time - Oooooo I can't wait for my next pair!!!!!!

Alma Blouse

My blog has not been allowing me to write new posts. Still not sure what that's about. But I was able to get on with a different computer!!!

Here is the Alma Blouse from Sewaholic. http://www.sewaholicpatterns.com/alma-blouse/
I used a wonderful wool suiting that has a great drape. I lined it with a pink silk cotton.

I Love the shape of this blouse. I think I remember adding length (it's been a while since I made it.)
I wear it a lot.
